Leaders plan to topple Governor Gary Juffa

NORTHERN (Oro) Governor Gary Juffa faces a vote of no-confidence from more than half of the Northern provincial executive council members. They met in Port Moresby yesterday and agreed to topple Mr Juffa.
Eight members comprising Ijivitari MP David Arore, Popondetta mayor Norman Ivahupa and various LLG presidents who make up the PEC expressed frustration that Mr Juffa has been running the provincial administration in a "dictatorship" manner and stalling basic service delivery in the province.
The members each gave their views describing the conduct of Mr Juffa as highly improper and disrespectful to members of the PEC and the Oro people.
Ijivitari MP David Arore expressed reservations about the manner in which Mr Juffa had been treating the people and running the province’s affairs.
"The allegations raised in the social media on the failed state of the Oro provincial administration is indeed true. We the PEC members and I as one of the two Open MPs in Oro Province confirm that the provincial administration is in a sorry state," Mr Arore said.
He said Sohe MP and Minister for Community Development Delilah Gore was also not happy with the ongoing ill management of the provincial administration and has backed the other PEC members to pursue the vote of no-confidence in the provincial assembly to have Mr Juffa removed.
Ms Gore could not be contacted for confirmation.
Popondetta mayor Mr Ivahupa said the PEC members were already fed up with the way the province is being managed and that was why they gathered to host the media conference to express their frustration on the continued suppressing of the people’s right to development.
Other PEC members shared similar sentiments and agreed to have Mr Juffa removed.
Attempts to get comments from Mr Juffa yesterday were unsuccessful.
Mr Juffa has been very vocal about land grabbing in the country, especially his province.
