PNG Education Secretary Dr. Michael Tapo sacked

The NEC  has sacked Education Secretary Dr. Michael Tapo.  The NEC took consideration of  the Education Department's failure in distributing the TFF (Tuition Fee Free) on time as well as issues in sorting out  large  number of claims amounting to millions of Kina  lodged by service providers to the department and terminated Tapo's contract.

A new Education Secretary will be announced next week by NEC. Meanwhile Dr. Tapo said, it is the prerogative decision of the current government and he accepts the decision made on his termination. He hopes  NEC will decide to appoint  one of his  deputies as the secretary of Education.
