PNG Hunters beat Souths Logan Magpies 34 - 12

PNG Hunters have beaten Souths Logan Magpies 34 - 12 tonight at Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.  The photo shows fireworks displayed when welcoming the Hunters to the Stadium. A huge crowd of 15000 people watched the game as the home team took on visiting team Souths Logan Magpies.
The Papua New Guinea Hunters have beaten Souths Logan  Magpies 34 - 12 in the round 14 Intrust Super Cup match  at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby tonight. The Hunters displayed an exciting football in front of a huge home crowd of 15 000 with six tries to two to the visitors. 

The Magpies wasted no time and scored on the 3rd minute to take a early lead 6 - 0. Another try from the visitors extended their lead to 12 - 0.  The Hunters regrouped and Willie Moniga crashed over the line and scored under the uprights to reduce the margin to 12 - 6 with successful conversion from Zemmings.  Another try from Hunters halfback Ase Boas take the Hunters within reach and trailed 12 - 10 with unsuccessful conversion at half time.

In the second half, the visitors built on momentum in attack but this was dissolved by Hunters solid defence and kept the Magpies scoreless.

The Hunters scored four unanswered tries through, Israel Eliab, Adex Wera, Thompson Teteh, Ase Boas to win the game 34 -12 at full time.

This is the first win for the Hunters outside of Kokopo. Earlier on, Hunters were welcomed with fireworks and the crowd cheered on as they entered the stadium arena. Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko officially kicked off the game in the new venue. The Hunters and the Magpies were invited by the Pacific Games Organising committee to test the venue.
