PNG Hunters set for season opener against South Logan Magpies

The Papua New Guinea SP Hunters are set for 2016 season opener in the  Intrust Super Cup match against the South Logan Magpies today at 2:00 pm. The game will be played at Davis Park in Brisbane and a large Hunters’ fans are expected to flock the venue.

The Hunters go into this game as favourites as they have never been beaten by the Magpies in the last two seasons.  The Hunters have lost star players like Israel Eliab who is now playing for London Broncos, Willie Minoga who is now playing for Townsville Blackhawks and Kato Ottio who is now playing for the Canberra Raiders in the NRL.  Other players who will not take the field today are  co-captain Adam Korave (suspension), Timothy Lomai (disciplinary), Roger Lake (retirement).
Coach Michael Marum will field in some rookies  for this match.
