Chinese company awarded major road development project in Milne Baty



A Chinese Company has been awarded a major road development project in Milne Bay Province. China Overseas Engineering Group Co. (COVEC) has been  awarded the contract ahead of Dekenai Constructions Ltd. 


Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio, GCL, GCMG, KStJ, Governor General of Papua New Guinea,  executed on behalf of the State a contract for major upgrade and sealing of East Cape Road in Milne Bay Province to the company. 

The contract valued at K89, 506, 891. 49, including GST, is for upgrade and sealing of the East Cape Road from Yalua to Kehelala covering two sections from Yalua to Divinai Bridge (approximately 25.6km) and Divinai to Kehelala (approximately 25.6km).
The contract will be jointly funded by the World Bank (78%) and the National Government (22%).
Company representatives Mr. Ding Shi and Mr. Hu Gang were on hand and signed on behalf of the company witnessed by Secretary of Department of Works Mr. David Wereh.
