UPNG Students will not protest but will continue boycotting classes

President of the UPNG SRC Arthur Amos confirmed that UPNG Students will not stage their Peaceful Protest tomorrow following directives from NCD Divisional Commander Sylvester Kalaut today but their boycotting of classes will continue.

Mr Amos says they are just waiting for the student’s referendum to be conducted anytime this week.
He said they are just waiting for the Student’s referendum to be conducted anytime this week despite having the University’s Administration going against them as well.
“UNITECH Students have already conducted their referendum and most students have opted for classes to be boycotted starting tomorrow,” he said.
However Amos said UPNG is at the forefront of this issue and their legal team is working around the clock to have the Electoral Commission to conduct the Referendum to make it legal for the students to continue boycotting classes.
He said they have collect almost 90% of the students’ signatures which is more than 4500 signatures to conduct the referendum.
Meanwhile regarding the Opening of the Fraud Office tomorrow by the Police Commissioner Gari Baki, Mr Amos welcomed his decision to have the office opened and is calling on Mr Damaru to be the one to question Prime Minister Peter O'Neill on all allegations levelled against him and also have Timothy Gitua and Thomas Eluh reinstated.
