Manu Samoa vs Georgia clash much anticipated says Samoa's PM

Samoa’s Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi has welcomed the arrival of Georgia rugby team saying their clash against Manu Samoa is very much anticipated.

"International test matches are a rarity in this professional era, so our fans would relish every opportunity to observe your very unique style of play," he said.

Prime Minister Tuilaepa recalled the last time the two teams clashed where Samoa succumbed to a much stronger Georgian

"Your team’s continued climb up the world rankings is by no means a fluke, ahead of Samoa, and rightly deserved. I have been told that your team has lost only three tier 1A matches in the last decade, which makes our clash this weekend much anticipated," he said.

Prime Minister Tuilaepa also challenged the newly established Manu Samoa team management.

"This weekend's match is also a fitting first up challenge for our Manu Samoa especially facing our Pacific rivals Tonga and Fiji in the Pacific Nations Cup," he added.

"The Pacific Nations cup is very important for the next two years in the search for a team that will qualify for the next World Cup in 2019 in Japan," he said.

The Prime Minister said the test match is the best opportunity for the new coach Namulauulu Alama Ieremia to perform well in front of the fans, rebuild, and to regain much needed confidence after last year's poor performance in the World Cup.

The Manu Samoa team will be selected on Thursday ahead of the clash against Georgia at Apia Park Stadium on Saturday.
