UPNG 2016 Academic year is over

Classes at the University of Papua New Guinea is now over, and will not resume this year.
The UPNG Council made this announcement, following rumours that the government may ask the Council to recall the 2016 Academic year.

The Council has made the decision to terminate the Academic Year and stands by it following student protest and boycott of classes which lasted for weeks.

UPNG Chancellor Dr. Nicholas Mann says, the Council has made the decision to start classes at the university early in 2017, and not this year.

The University of Papua New Guinea begins its Academic Year in March every year, but it will now be different for 2017, with classes scheduled for the 2nd of January.
