PNG Authorities hide Iranian Refugee from the Media

It took more than five hours of interrogation by PNG authorities at Port Moresby's Jacksons International Terminal before the escaped Iranian refugee to Fiji was taken away behind the media’s back.

The questions now that remains is why the PNG Department of Immigration had to keep the refugee in concern deported from Fiji to PNG under wraps and keeping their mouths close as to what really transpired in PNG at first that allowed the person in concern to possess PNG travel documents to fly to Fiji to seek asylum there.

Meanwhile, the refugee Mr. Loghman Sawari from Iran was flown back to PNG this afternoon, touching down at the Jacksons International Airport at around 12:45pm before being processed by PNG Customs and NAQIA then led away by authorities for interrogation.

He was later whisked away by Immigrations to the Airport police station where he was detained. However, what transpired there is still not clear as police and security personnel kept tight security around the premises where the police station is located.

At this stage it is not clear what information was extracted from Mr. Sawari, efforts to also get information from the Department of Immigration officers at the airport were unsuccessful. PNGFM
