Court reinstates Task Force Sweep
DISBANDED Task Force Sweep headed by sacked chairman Sam Koim has been reinstated by the National Court.
The court yesterday issued orders putting aside the NEC decision of June 18 to disband the Task Force Sweep (TFS).
Former TFS chairman Sam Koim had filed an application for leave for judicial review last week challenging the decision of Prime Minster Peter O’Neill and NEC to have them sidelined.
Presiding Judge Justice Gavara-Nanu yesterday ordered that the leave be granted for judicial review and that the decision to be reviewed is granted in the interim until tomorrow, when the application will be heard.
It also ordered that any other persons or parties wishing to be joined as a party to the proceedings make a formal application by tomorrow.
The NEC disbanded the team, saying it has been heavily compromised, heavy politicised and that there has been constant visits by politicians to its office, including meetings.
Meanwhile the Prime Minister’s office said yesterday that state lawyers were not served the ex parte orders but this morning they will file to appeal against the case, which is returnable tomorrow.
