ExxonMobil PNG upgrades facilities at Para Health Clinic

The people in the Para, Tokaju and Hides areas will now benefit from a refurbished Para Health Clinic thanks to ExxonMobil PNG (EMPNG), operator of the PNG LNG Project.

The refurbishment of the clinic involved improvements to its lighting system to attend to patients in the evening and improving its water supply critical to the maternity room.

The infrastructure support project was aimed at addressing two key operational issues affecting the clinic that would enable staff to provide optimum health services to the local communities.

The refurbished clinic was officially handed over to the community last week.

Local leader and Clinic Board Chairman, Martin Tindipuin welcoming the handover recognized and thanked EMPNG for its continuous support to the community.

“EMPNG has brought light to the Hides area and on behalf of our people, and we would like to thank EMPNG management for the improvements to the clinic and other numerous projects to the Hides community,” MrTindipu said.

EMPNG Upstream Logistics Supervisor Jimmy Marrs officiated at the handover and thanked the people of Para community for working closely with EMPNG.

“It is important we build and maintain a good relationship that we can support and work together as partners,” Mr Marrs said.

The Para Health Clinic is operated by the church agency Evangelical Church of Papua New Guinea (ECPNG) Health Service Division and has been serving the people of Hides, Para and Laite for a number years prior to the PNG LNG Project.

EMPNG partners with government agencies and NGOs in support of health programs in PNG to help prevent, diagnose and treat many of PNG’s significant health challenges including malaria, tuberculosis, and maternal and child mortality.
