Former Divine Word University President Father Jan Czuba (pronounced Young Shuba) has been appointed as the new Secretary for the Papua New Guinea  Department of Higher Education, Research Science and Technology.
Prime Minister Peter O'Neill announced on NBC's Dabai talkback show this morning that the National Executive Counsel confirmed this appointment in its meeting yesterday.
He now takes over from Dr. David Kavanamur, who has resigned to pursue another career.
"Yesterday I can announce today that the cabinet appointed Father Jan Czuba.who is well renown for establishing one of the private universities in the country, Divine Word University.
Tens of thousands of kids that he has educated through his personnel commitment.
Now we want him to have a national stage to develop and drive.
So we've just appointed him to be the secretary for higher education to drive that tertiary education for our children all throughout the country.
And you will see a renewed passion coming in there and we are committed to standing behind him, making sure that we make the differences in all the universities, all the technical colleges, all the institutions that we want our kids to get the best education possible",said Prime Minister O Neill .
