RSIPF to be part of consultation on National Security Policy
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will be part of the consultation on the Government’s proposed National Security Policy.
Under Secretary in the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services, Mactus Forau reaffirmed this when presenting to the Provincial Commanders’ and Directors’ Conference underway in Honiara on the role of the Ministry and the various policies being implemented by the present Government.
Under Secretary Forau revealed that when Cabinet endorsed the proposed National Security Policy it was agreed that consultation on the Policy should start with communities in the provinces.
“So far the consultation on the Policy has completed seven provinces with four more to go and few more consultations to be held in Honiara. This week the consultation is in the Shortland Islands, in the Western Province,” says Under Secretary Forau.
“RSIPF will be a member of the National Security Working Group on the National Security Policy and wide consultation will be carried out within the Force after the community consultation on the Policy has been completed,” says Mr Forau.
Consultation on the National Security Policy is expected to be completed by the end of this year and the write up of the policy will start at the beginning of 2018.
The National Security Policy will involve all the law enforcement agencies involving RSIPF, Customs, Quarantine, Immigration and other relevant stakeholders.
