Frank Ocean has chosen not to press criminal charges against Chris Brown following their recent car park brawl, saying he wants "peace" between the pair.
The musicians are claimed to have got into a fight outside Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angeles last Sunday.
According to Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore, Grammy-nominated singer Ocean was "desirous of prosecution" initially, as he accused Brown of starting the fight.
Ocean no longer wants to press charges against Brown, as he has moved on from the altercation.
"As a child I thought if someone jumped me it would result in me murdering or mutilating a man," Ocean wrote on his Tumblr account.
"But as a man I am not a killer. I'm an artist and a modern person. I'll choose sanity. No criminal charges. No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom. Peace, albeit trite, is what I want in my short life. Peace."
Surveillance footage of the brawl obtained by officials reportedly vindicated both Ocean and Brown, as it appeared that their entourages were the main parties throwing blows.
Any charges made against Brown could have had serious implications for his probation stemming from his 2009 assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna.
Brown and Ocean are both nominated in the best urban contemporary album category at the Grammys, which take place on February 10 in Los Angeles. AAP
