Police charge acting Police Commission, Geoffrey Vaki

Acting Police Commissioner Geoffery Vaki has been arrested and taken in for questioning following his affidavit in the National Court in appointing Paul Mawa  to as Police Lawyer.  Police detectives from the Fraud Squad charged Vaki on the premise that he was allegedly perverting the course of Justice through the contents of the instructions.  

This is in relation to the court case Marape/O’Neill versus State and police, a case associated with the Paraka saga.

According to Police,  Mawa had told the court that he was instructed by the Acting Commissioner to replace Nicolas Miviri, which is under Vaki’s powers to do so, but the question lied in the consent order allowing extension of time and no arrest on O’Neill and Marape.

Additional charges are being expected to be laid on him..
