PNG EXPORTS LARGEST OVERSEAS SHIPMENT OF ETHANOL
Ramu Agri Industries has announced another major achievement – its largest overseas shipment of PNG made ethanol.
Two million litres of the alcohol produced from Sugar Cane was today loaded onto a ship bound for Korea.
The 24-hour operations involved the use of 87 tanks, 100 workers making nearly 50 trips between Lae and Ramu.
The Golden wave arrived at Seven O’clock last night and since then workers from Ramu Agri Industries have been loading locally produced ethanol onto the ship.
On the outside, it looks simple, yet the shipment of two million litres sees Ramu’s second and biggest shipment so far and it involved a lot of planning; making sure that costs were controlled and Ethanol protected from contamination.
The Ethanol is being ferried from Ramu; more than 100 staff including drivers are involved in the operation.
Ethanol is a form of Alcohol, produced from a sugar bi-product. It is one of the most commonly used solvents in Industries all over the world.
The shipment of this batch is going to Korea.
The company facilitating the export is Australia based Catalyst.
Managing director Yvonne Lockwood says the whole operation was managed with precision.
Ramu can only make one shipment a year.
The company expects to increase production gradually in the coming years.
