Prime Minister Peter O’Neill opens Taurama Swimming Pool
Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill today said the Government, in the last two years, has made apparent progress in infrastructure development, and looks forward to rebuilding all the PNGDF Barracks infrastructure, throughout the country.
"As you can see, the roads in Taurama Barracks are being fixed and this pool has now been refurbished to a state-of-the-art swimming facility. "Before 2017, the Government aims to rebuild the infrastructure in all our barracks nationwide,”Prime Minister Hon. Peter O'Neill said.
He said 'white goods' will also be installed in each staff houses by next year.
Prime Minister Hon. Peter O'Neill also appealed to all members of the PNGDF to demonstrate and uphold discipline in their conduct.
He further announced that the government would also introduce a generous pension scheme for retirees after they reach 65 years of age.
The Prime Minister was also thanked by the Minister for Sports, Justin Tkachenko for the government's ongoing support towards this as well as similar projects throughout the country.
