O-SHEN Releases New Song ‘Em I Pasin’

One of Papua New Guinea’s favourite music son’s Jason Hershey, better known as O-SHEN has released his new song, titled ‘Em I Pasin’ sung in the Tok Pisin creole language of Papua New Guinea.

O-Shen gives a brief description of the song on his facebook page as being “about people’s actions and ways – basically a love song for everybody in my life who has been good to me”.

Executively produced by both O-Shen and Perfechter, under the label Kaimoana Music, O-Shen’s latest gift to his fans, and countrymen and women, ‘Em I Pasin’ is refreshing and speaks volume of his love and pride for PNG.

The reggae musician was born in Spokane, Washington in 1978 and raised in PNG; he significantly pioneered the style of rap and lyrical reggae in Tok Pisin and whose music genres (and sub-genres of main music genres) include Pacific Reggae, Dancehall, Rap/Hip-hop, lokal/local contemporary PNG, ethnic and ethnic-contemporary PNG music, Jawaiian, ragamuffin, roots reggae, and reggae fusion, among others.

O-Shen is internationally acclaimed for his song ‘Throw Away the Guns' from his album, Rascal in Paradise, which was featured in the 2004 film, starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, 50 First Dates.

Other achievements include him winning the 2001 Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Reggae Album of the Year. "Na Hoku Hanohano" translates to "Stars of Distinction" in Hawaiian, and is Hawaii’s premier music awards or the Hawaiian equivalent of the Grammy Awards.

With his unique Pacific reggae sound – distinct and melodious and catchy lyrical rhyme, O-Shen’s ‘Em I Pasin’ is gaining momentum on the popular music scene and fast becoming a hit nationwide.

His songs portray his depth of affection for his home and people; Hershey continues to awe fans, world over, and is a true patriotic son and music ambassador of Papua New Guinea.
