PNG satisfied with maturity of relations with China

Acting Prime Minister Grand Chief Hon. Leo Dion, GCL, CMG, QPM, MP, assures the Special Envoy for China-Pacific Islands Forum Dialogue His Excellency Mr Du Qiwen that Papua New Guinea is satisfied with the maturity of the country's relations with China.Acting Prime Minister Dion made this known during a meeting held recently with H.E Qiwen.

The Acting Prime Minister said that the current government is fully committed to the One China Policy and shall continue to abide by it in the future years to come.

"The PNG Government highly appreciates and values China's relationship with the Pacific Islands Forum as a Post-Forum Dialogue Partner," he said.

"The government acknowledges the recent valuable initiative by the Chinese's Government to establish a China/Pacific Islands Forum Dialogue to broaden practical cooperation between China and PIF countries."

Acting PM Dion said PNG is also committed to successfully implement projects funded by China.

He said these includes the Pacific Marine Industrial Zone (PMIZ) project in Madang, University of Goroka Residential Upgrading, Waigani International Convention Centre, Integrated Government Information Systems (IGIS), Community College project and the Kokopo Town Sewerage System project.
