Port Moresby residents concern over continued Youth Rampage

The continuous nightly fights among youths at the 5 Mile area in Port Moresby has escalated and residents now call on police to do something quickly to end this fights.

A resident at the area said the fights have been going on for four nights now and it usually occurs right after the Christmas light show at the Jack Pidik Park. There are fears now that tonight will get even worse because the youths are now targeting homes, cars on the road and picking on anyone.

Already countless vehicles damaged, traffic users injured, innocent bystanders brutalized and in one terrifying episode on Wednesday, a passenger was pulled from a vehicle and severely assaulted. The person miraculously managed to escape, but with serious injuries.

"Police came to the seen several times during the week, but were unable to hold back or stop the youths from fighting each other and pouring out their anger on the innocent," the resident said.
The mob clash and fighting is between three major factions of youths in the 5 Mile and 6 Mile area and it is still not clear what caused the clash.

The residents are now calling on the city’s Police Metropolitan Superintendent, Mr. Ben Turi to seriously put an end to this street fights
