Rema Family disappointed with Police Commisioner Gary Baki's comments

Following the press statement released by the Police Commissioner Garry Baki in the media last week which was published as front page story on one of the daily newspapers, the family of the police brutality victim Nelson Nene Rema, who was shot dead at close range by police officers in NCD, say they are not happy with Mr Baki’s comments on the media as it has no grounds to support his claims.
According to the uncle of the deceased, Mr Michael Yai-Pupu, such inhumane treatment by the Police on innocent public without any valid reasons cannot continue as it is leading this nation into social collapse in our society.

"The Police Commissioner Garry Baki defended actions of the Police saying the deceased was a wanted criminal and this we the family of the decease want Mr Baki to give us evidences on what crime the deceased and caused or done for him to be killed in the manner that he was killed and then we can be happy," said Mr Yai-Pupu.

"Police have no right to kill anyone even if they are wanted criminals. in this case the police acted irresponsibly and illegally killed and innocent person," said Mr Yai-Pupu.
Furthermore, Mr Yai-Pupu made it known today that the Family of late Nelson Nene Rema, will be petitioning the hierarchy in Police as well as the Government & Minister Responsible regarding the inhumane actions by Police and also they will be taking this matter to the courts.
Mr Yai-Pupu says they have not received or heard any information at all from the Police whether they are doing and investigation into this matter or not and for the Police Commissioner to come out public in the media defending his officers is totally not on.
