PNG a leading Economy : Vele

In the last 6-7years, the PNG Economy has seen a rapid growth making it one of the leading economies in the Oceania Region and the world as well.

The country’s economy is the fastest growing economy which is expected to continue at this trend for the next 2-3 years and this is a positive sign for investors to participate in business activities here and invest as well.

Secretary for Treasury Dairi Vele made this known to the 32 business investors from the Philippines-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCCI) that are here in the country this week looking at investment opportunities available in PNG ranging from real estate, retail, manufacturing, hotels, tourism and power generation as well as construction and maintenance.

Mr Vele told the PCCCI Delegation that they were the first to visit PNG for this year 2016 and the PNG National Government is anticipating better dialogue between the three countries so that some of them can invest in PNG.

"PNG has much to offer, with our agriculture industries and our extractive industries, we have boosted our fast growing economy within 6 years which has seen imminent growth in our revenue making streams which also contributed to the growth of our economy," said Mr Vele.
