The Papua New Guinea Tourism Industry has received 50-million Kina for promotion and marketing for this year.
The new Tourism Minister, Justin Tkatchenko revealed this, saying tourism industry is a sleeping giant, which needs funding and support to boost it.
Mr. Tkatchenko, says the 50 million kina direct funding from the government will be used to promote and market Papua New Guinea. He says he will be travelling to provinces to search for avenues needed to sell the country to tourists because he wants as many tourist support the tourism industry and the economy of the country. He says the tourism Industry is a sleeping giant because of the lack of funding from previous governments and lack of good leadership, but with the governments direct funding, it will bring a positive spin. He adds, the Prime Minister gave him a job and he will bring the country's tourism industry to a brand new level like never before by bringing everybody together to change tourism.
