PNG Swimming Champion Ryan Pini doing well in preparation for RIO Olympics
PNG's swim champ Ryan Pini having already gained 3 Olympic B Qualifying times in the 100m butterfly, 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke, will be competing in smaller competitions in the lead up to Rio to gain race experience.
Having just competed at the Victorian State Championships in January, Ryan swam in 4 events and made 4 finals over the 3 day competition.
Placing 2nd in the 50m butterfly final with a 24.13 and his 50m events were just off his best times, Ryan was very pleased with the results from the Victorian State Championships. From this event the year before, he is in better form with his times having dropped significantly in the last 12 months.
Sam Seghers who also competed at the Victorian State Championships, is on track to hopefully gain a qualifying time for the Olympics. With a Personal Best time in his 50m butterfly, this was a great achievement after some heavy training in his lead up to this event.
The next competition that Ryan and Sam will compete in is the NSW State Championships in early March. They have 2 big competitions before Rio, the Australian Championships in Adelaide in April and Oceania Championships in Fiji in June.
