Digicel PNG Foundation rewards staff member with free trip to the Caribbean
A staff member from Digicel has been gifted with an all-expenses paid trip to the Caribbean as part of winning the Foundation’s Live Learn Love competition.
The Live Learn Love Foundation is an internal competition created by the global Digicel Foundation to encourage and educate its staffs on the community work of the Foundation. This was held in all the four Digicel Foundation countries in Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad & Tobago and PNG.
Timothy Kore who works in the IT Department was named as the grand prize winner for his enthusiasm in learning about the work the Foundation does for remote areas in PNG and spreading the word via social media.
Digicel PNG Foundation CEO Beatrice Mahuru congratulated Timothy on winning the grand prize and said she was excited to send him to another Foundation country to be a representative for Digicel PNG Foundation.
“I look forward to sending Timothy to one of the Foundations in the Caribbean to study their projects and promote the work we are doing throughout Papua New Guinea,” she said.
“Timothy is a great ambassador for the Digicel PNG Foundation and we are excited to hear all about his experience when he returns from his trip.
Timothy said he was thrilled to visit another country and thanked the Foundation for their incredible generosity.
“I cannot describe the excitement I felt upon finding out I won the trip to the Caribbean. This would have to be the biggest prize I have won in my life so far. I am the happiest man in Digicel PNG,” he said.
“The real appreciation for me from participating in the Live Learn Love competition is seeing the Foundation deliver basic health and education services to remote areas of PNG which most of us from the cities take for granted.
“I am proud to know that the company I work for has the heart to give back to the community, and in doing so, helping to bridge gaps on basic services that should be a right to every citizen and not a privilege.”
Ms Mahuru said she was delighted to hold the Live Learn Love Foundation competition, which aimed to educate staff members about the positive impact they are making to improve the lives of people throughout PNG.
“The Live Learn Love Foundation competition has been a great success, helping to educate our staff about the wonderful work the Foundation does for Papua New Guineans across the country,” she said.
“It has been a great pleasure to give away weekly prizes and we thank our winners for expressing their gratitude towards this wonderful competition.
“The Digicel PNG Foundation also looks forward to hosting the winners of the competition from the Caribbean who chooses to visit our market.”
The competition, which ran in the month of April, saw over 400 Digicel PNG staff members participating.
Other prizes awarded to the weekly winners included four tickets to the Men of Honour Awards Gala night, four Samsung Galaxy S5 Smart Phones and a Digicel PNG Foundation funded education project for the local community of the staff member.
