Opposition accuses Speaker Zurenouc for hijacking VONC debate
The Speaker of Parliament has been accused to have hijacked the debate session of the Vote of No Confidence today.
Vanimo Green MP Belden Namah who challenged the Speaker in parliament to allow more time for debate said, it was a sad day for PNG as the re-election of Peter O’Neill as PM didn’t solve a problem and will go on for the remaining 9 months before the next election.
“It’s a special parliament sitting where the vote of no confidence was to be introduced, debated and voted upon; not for the Speaker to hijack the debating process,” said Mr. Namah.
He said if the PM was given one more day to run the office of the PM, he will run this country down, but today, he was given more than 9 months.
Mr. Namah blamed the 85 MP’s who voted against the motion of no confidence for not hearing the cries of the people they represent who wanted a change in the Prime Minister.
“We are supposed to for the people, by the people and of the people, but now I see we are for ourselves and not putting the interest of the people we represent before us,” said Namah.
