Police CID to investigate student's death
Mendi Crime Investigation Division (CID) have been tasked to investigate the death of the Grade 11 student of Ialibu Secondary School student who was killed last Tuesday after a clash between locals and students over the disputed school principal position.
Mendi Police Station Commander Gideon Kauke said apart from the death of the student, they will also be investigating the burning down of the school dormitories and the Provincial Education Board to find out how two people were appointed for the same position.
The police will facilitate a peace talk between the deceased boy’s tribe and the Koromi people in the presence of the Provincial Deputy Administrator and the Police Commander.
Kauke said the investigation will last for 30 days and after that, they hope to have some answers for the people.
Meanwhile Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra has deployed some very senior officers from the department to Ialibu on Monday where they will assess the situation and determine if the school should be closed or turned into a day school. PNGFM/PNG Today
