Port Moresby General Hospital facing drug shortage
The Port Moresby General Hospital (POMGEN) is facing a shortage of medical drugs which has been affecting the hospital and its patients.
Director for Medical Services Dr David Mokela said it has been an ongoing issue for the hospital for quite some time.
“Supplies have come in bit by bit but we seem to be running out quickly as this is the biggest hospital in the country”
He said the hospital is still waiting on funds that the National Department of Health had planned to allocate for this year.
“The Department of Health, usually upon request provide medical drug supplies for all health facilities, but we have not received ours yet”
Meanwhile the hospital has been seeking assistance from other organisations to procure medical drugs. PNGFM / PNG Today
