PNG National Airport Corporation boss arrested and Charged over fraud and Corruption

 Managing Director for Papua New Guinea National Airport Corporation Richard Yopo has been arrested and charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice in relation to allegations made against him.

Director - National Fraud & Anti-Corruption Directorate Detective Chief Superintendent Matthew Damaru in a press release stated that Mr Yopo who is currently under investigation on allegations of fraud and corruption, ordered for the removal of the computer of a National Airport Corporation’s staff.

He also ordered for the change of lock to the office, locking the officer out.

It was established that the computer removed contained information on the allegations made against Yopo.

Mr Yopo acted to remove the officer’s computer after being notified that the particular NAC officer was seen at the National Fraud and Anti-Corruption Directorate office to provide his witness statement on the allegations levelled against him.

Mr Yopo was arrested at 7 mile yesterday 12th August 2019 and taken to NFACD office in Konedobu where he was interviewed and later taken to Boroko Police Station where he was placed in the cells.

Meanwhile investigations into allegations of fraud and corruption against him are continuing.
