Damaru : No Idea of Alleged Sidelining of PNG National Fraud & Anti-corruption Directorate

The Director of the Papua New Guinea National Fraud and Anti-Corruption Directorate (NFACD) has no knowledge of an 'alleged sidelining' of the organization.

Mathew Damaru told NBC News this afternoon, his team is at work today and does not know of such.

Mr. Damaru, also said, he is unaware of allegations of investigations into the Directorate.

Mr. Damaru's comments follow a report today by Radio New Zealand quoting Justice Minister Bryan Kramer saying 'the Directorate has been sidelined while investigations are underway.'

Minister Kramer is further quoted saying "the Directorate has struggled for operational funds and it came to a point where it is under the scrutiny of being compromised."

Kramer said, the investigations are ongoing - and there have been individuals involved or assigned to that Department that are basically implicated in a number of investigations involving corruption.

The Justice Minister adds that "investigations into alleged fraud were now being conducted by other parts of police.
