PNG Power and Dirio signs Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for Hela Power
Hela Governor Undialu announced today after a low key PPA signing ceremony between PNG Power and Dirio today. The PPA is for Dirio to build between 30-50MW of power for PPL to distribute to the highlands grid.
Dirio has successfully delivered first power project at Caution Bay, near PNGLNG Plant Site which likely go online later this month. The long delay was to allow PPL to upgrade its transmission and substation infrastructure. Governor Undialu urged landowers not to believe Facebook fanatics who only know how to write good English with no clue how difficult it is to get into such such an industry dominated by foreigners.
The Dirio Project will utilise the 240km 132kva power transmission lines from Hagen to Hides under construction. Hela and SHP have been in dark for the last 30 donkey years. Rest of highlands and Momase in need of cheap and reliable power supply. That's what this PPA is about.
He further thanked Prime Minister Hon. James Marape, Minister Duma, Moses Maladina-Chairman of PPL Board, Obert Batia-CEO PPL with all his technical officers, Chairman and MD of Kumul Consolidated Holdings Ltd, Chairman of Dirio and MRDC Ambr Isac Lupari, MRDC MD Augustine Mano, Acting CEO of Dirio Mr. Tuan, ExxonMobil and everyone involved to make Hela Power PPA signing into reality.
Governor Undialu concluded by saying, "cheap and reliable power supply from Hides is a game changer for the highlands and part of Momase regions. To the Hela Community, its fulfilment of 'Hela Gigira Laitebo Prophecy'".
