PNG NAC Welcomes Air Niugini to New Nadzab Tomodachi International Airport Terminal
Today, the Papua New GUinea National Airports Corporation Ltd (NAC) extended a warm welcome to Air Niugini as the airline commenced its domestic operations at the newly inaugurated Nadzab Tomodachi International Airport Terminal on Monday, January 8th, 2024.
This milestone marks a significant leap forward as NAC collaborates closely with Air Niugini, PNG Air, and various other airline operators to enhance and streamline passenger services. Effective immediately, all passengers, including those of Air Niugini, will undergo processing at the new Nadzab Tomodachi International Terminal. The former terminal will continue operations but will solely handle cargo for Air Niugini and PNG Air.
The official opening of the new Nadzab Tomodachi International Airport Terminal by NAC was conducted on December 4th, 2023. However, initially, only PNG Air transitioned successfully to the NAC Common User Passenger Processing System (CUPPS) and commenced operations at the new terminal on that date.
Dominic Kaumu, Acting Managing Director and CEO of NAC, expressed satisfaction with the seamless integration of Air Niugini's systems into the NAC system. "As planned, Air Niugini has initiated regular operations at the new terminal today, with a smooth transition of their systems to the NAC system," mentioned Mr. Kaumu. He also confirmed the successful commencement of B737 operations using the new aerobridges.
Meanwhile, NAC informed stakeholders that Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine systems and offices have been established in the new terminal. These facilities await arrangements for Regular Passenger Transport (RPT) for international operations, currently being coordinated by the Department of Transport.
