Australia Assists PNG Health Department Following Lae Fire
Australia has extended support to Papua New Guinea's National Department of Health (NDoH) in response to a recent fire that destroyed the Area Medical Store in Lae. The incident has severely disrupted the distribution of essential medicines and health supplies across Morobe and neighboring highlands provinces.

To assist in restoring these critical services, Australia is providing a replacement truck to bolster logistics and supply chains for the Morobe Provincial Health Authority and the NDoH. This contribution is part of the ongoing collaboration between the two countries to address urgent needs in PNG's health sector.
A signing ceremony was held last week to mark the handover of the replacement vehicle. The event underscored Australia’s commitment to supporting PNG's government and health systems as part of their longstanding and expanding partnership.
This practical assistance reflects Australia's dedication to helping PNG recover from the logistical challenges posed by the fire and ensuring uninterrupted delivery of health services to affected communities.
