ExxonMobil Renews Backing of PNG Kumuls and Domestic Rugby League in 2026

PNG rugby league will again receive major corporate backing in 2026, with ExxonMobil PNG confirming it will continue as the naming-rights sponsor of the PNG LNG Kumuls and a co-naming rights sponsor of the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup.

The announcement was made in Sydney last month during the PNG CORE Investment Week Forum, where ExxonMobil PNG formalised sponsorship agreements with the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League and the PNG National Rugby League Competition.

ExxonMobil PNG, operator of the PNG LNG Project, has maintained a long-standing relationship with the national team, supporting the PNG LNG Kumuls since 2013 and contributing a total of K30 million over that period.

The company has also co-sponsored the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup since 2023, with its support directed at strengthening player development systems and advancing the professional standards of the domestic competition.

ExxonMobil PNG Chairman and Managing Director Dinesh Sivasamboo said rugby league continues to play a central role in bringing Papua New Guineans together.
