PNG LNG shipment sparks more interest
Following the first shipment of cargo from the PNG LNG project to Japan last May more Japanese businessmen are interested in the country as a potential investment destination, Japanese Ambassador Morio Matsumoto says.
Speaking at the at the Divine Word University 33rd graduation ceremony in Madang on March 15, Matsumoto said: “More and more Japanese businessmen are taking interest in this country and an increasing number of businessmen from Japan visit our embassy in Port Moresby. They all testify how impressed they are by actually coming here and observing the huge potential of this country.
“I am looking forward to seeing further development of relations in the area of trade and investment,” he told a gathering of 764 graduates, dignitaries, the university community, relatives of students and the public.
Matsumoto said the promotion of investments by Japanese companies would further strengthen the business relationship and enhance the economic partnership between PNG and Japan.
He said Japan contributed to development of PNG not only through official development assistance by numerous exchanges of trade missions between the two countries over the years.
He said human resources was important for the development of PNG and encouraged the university graduates to consider applying for Japanese Government scholarships. PNG Today /The National
