Enga Province to build new modern Hospital
Enga Province will soon have a state-of-the-art modern hospital . Governor General Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio signed on behalf of the State a multi million Kina contract for the financing and construction of a new provincial hospital and housing for Enga province.
The contract valued at US$159, 600,000.00, inclusive of GST and contingency sum, will be financed partly by the China Exim Bank (85%) and by the national Government (15%).
The new Enga hospital is a level 5 referral hospital and will deliver clinical services of general medicine, psychiatry, gynecology, ENT/Head and neck surgery, ophthalmology, oral health including surgery, anesthetics, pathology, radiology and sexual health services.
It will have a total bed capacity of 180 in-patent beds and 12 units of self-care accommodation for expectant mothers and breast feeding mothers of infant being cared for in the nursery.
Staff accommodation development is also part of the health facility development.
The contract was awarded to Guangdong Foreign Construction Co. Ltd. Company representatives Mr. Zhao Guanghua William and Mr. Xiaoshe Lu were present to sign the contract with Secretary for Health Department Mr. Pascoe Kase.
Governor of Enga Hon. Sir Peter Ipatas also attended the ceremony today.
