European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development attends the 8 th ACP Summit

Port Moresby, 31 May 2016 - The European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven
Mimica, is attending the 8th Summit of African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Heads of State and Government which is
currently underway in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea from 30 May to 1 June 2016.
Commissioner Mimica said of his visit: "I am very pleased to represent the European Union at this 8th Summit of ACP
Heads of State and Government. This will be the occasion to discuss together how we can come closer to a strengthened
partnership after 2020."
The attendance of Commissioner Mimica at the 8th ACP Summit marks the commitment of the EU to make this
partnership even stronger; in forging a new way forward in the EU-ACP. To this end, Commissioner Mimica delivered a
keynote address to the (ACP) Heads of State and Government at the Summit's official opening.
The European Commissioner leads the European Union Delegation at the ACP Summit, including delegates from the
European External Action Service, European Commission in Brussels and Ambassadors of European Union Delegations
across the Pacific region.
