Former PNG Parliament Speaker Jeffrey Nape dies
Former Papua New Guinea Parliament speaker Jeffrey Nape has died. He passed away at 8am on Friday at the Pacific International Hospital in Port Moresby.
“Mr. Nape was admitted and we worked on him from twelve midnight to 8am this morning however he left us, I can only say to you that he died of organ failure”, said Doctor Paul Mondia Consultative Physician of the Pacific International Hospital.
The Former Member of SinaSina Yongomugl was Speaker of the National Parliament twice officially and once unofficially Acting as Governor General of PNG.
He was elected Speaker by the Members of the Parliament on 28 May 2004, and then immediately became Acting Governor-General because that office was substantively vacant.
