Helicopter crash in Kiunga

There has been a helicopter crash in Kiunga at around 3:15 pm today on the tarmac with 2 casualties reported receiving treatment for injuries sustained.

That’s from the Western Provincial Police boss Joseph Puri who says police are currently on ground assessing the crash site.

Puri adds that the helicopter is believed to have been from Niugini Helicopters and there were only two crew on board with the pilot at the time.
It is understood that there are no fatalities but a crew member did sustain minor injuries and is in hospital receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, Puri says the other person who sustained injuries was a bystander in the Kiunga base.
