Bank employee charged with rape of overseas volunteer in Samoa
Police in Samoa have detained a 25 year old man who allegedly raped an overseas volunteer.
Police Spokesperson Sua Le Mamea Tiumalu says the incident allegedly occurred last week Saturday.
“The victim is reported to have been out that evening and when she returned with her partner to where they were staying they were intoxicated. They got to rest and that’s when the accused came in and (allegedly) committed the crime,” said Su’a.
According to Su’a, the suspect is known to the victim and he may have known her of whereabouts on the night of the alleged rape.
He adds the victim had bruises which could be a result of the alleged attack.
