Stop and Shop Robbery suspects apprehended

Stop and Shop at Rainbow in Port Moresby was robbed by four armed men on mid-day today using high-powered guns.

According to police personnel on the ground from the Superintendent Support Unit in NCD, the 4 suspects tried to rob the shop’s safe but couldn’t get through and only took away with them an undisclosed amount of cash from one of the till in the shop.

During their exit, the suspects held up a court judge, stabbed him and made their getaway in his vehicle and another vehicle.
Police were alerted after the suspects fled in the stolen vehicles and gave chase. The vehicles were abandoned at the Telikom Head Station at the back of Tete settlement and the suspects escaped on foot.

The police unit managed to capture two of the suspects after they chased them on foot and finally captured them when they conducted a house raid in the settlement.
Two other suspects escaped but their identities are known and police will make arrests soon.
Police say factory made guns were used in the robbery.
The stolen cash from the shop was not recovered as well.
