MANUS people will benefit greatly under the Australian government development help to Manus, the Australian High Commission says.
It said the Australian and Papua New Guinea governments were providing additional support to Manus.
Both governments came under fire from the Opposition and some leaders over the asylum processing centre, the decision to integrate asylum seekers in the PNG community and the way local involvement has been shunned on work being done on the island.
A statement from the commission, said the PNG Government provided K18.5 million to the Manus government for projects and Australia would at least match that.
