Penrith Panthers sign Albert Wellington
PNG Kumuls rising star, Albert Wellington has signed with Penrith Panthers on a two year contract. Albert had offers from South Sydney and Wests Tigers but chose to sign a two-year deal with Penrith.
"I want to thank my parents, my family and my coaches," he said.
Brad Tassell from the PNG Rugby Football League says Albert will play under-20s with Penrith next year then have a spot in the top 25 in the first grade side in 2015.
"That is a massive achievement," he said.
Albert, who plays on the wing and in the second row, was identified by the national schoolboys program two years ago.
Albert played for the Kumuls in the 2013 rugby league world cup and scored a solo try againts the Kiwis.
