An important Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Task Force Sweep and the Australian Federal Police last night at the residence of the Australian High Commissioner to PNG, Deborah Stokes.
The MOU is significant to the fight against the high level of cross-border crimes committed over the past years by Papua New Guineans and Australians.

The signing of the MOU was well-attended by members of the Australian Federal Police, Police Commissioner Tom Kulunga, Government representatives, Task Force Sweep officers and stakeholders.

Chairman of Task Force Sweep, Sam Koim, and Assistant Commissioner of the Australian Federal Police, Ramsi Jabbour, signed the MOU.

Mr. Koim said with the current status gathered by Task Force Sweep, many assets and money have been transferred to Australia and other known countries.

Mr. Jabbour added that the MOU will go a long way as PNG and Australia will hold hands to eradicate corruption and protect PNG’s future.
