Complete betel nut ban in Port Moresby starts today
The National Capital District Commission will be imposing a total betel nut ban in the city as of today.
Police will be supporting the move by enforcing the ban .
According to the Metropolitan Superintendent Andy Bawa who says the buai ban in the city will be effective today but the N-C-D-C has given a 7 days grace period.
The grace period applies to approved Betel-Nut Market sites like Lareva Market at Hohola.
Mr Bawa says as of today Police will be on the look-out for those trying to breach the ban and those caught will be arrested and charged.
He is appealing to city residents to adhere to the rules applied in the ban.
