Schram to get a business visa

Sidelined University of Technology vice-chancellor Dr Albert Schram will be issued a business visa, he says.
This follows the boycott of classes by Unitech students demanding the return of Schram as vice-chancellor.
The Chief Migration Officer’s office confirmed Schram’s travel ban was lifted on March 24 and the office had notified relevant authorities to process his visa.
According to immigration laws, Schram will not be allowed to resume office if he is to enter the country on a business visa.
“I will be breaking the law if I enter the country like that because I am still employed by Unitech,” said Schram. There is no court order instructing me to vacate office, or not to come on campus.
“I have a valid contract and there is no restraining order for me to carry out my duties.”
Schram said the people of country and Unitech must not be misled by the Government.
“Apparently, I will be offered a business visa, which prohibits employment.  I would be able to come in for a few days, and then leave again.”
Schram has urged Unitech students to be steadfast and not give in to the Government easily until all their demands, apart from him returning as VC, are addressed.
“Principled negotiation is what is going to get us through this, not haggling over small concessions.
“This is what the government is trying to do, mixed in with their usual delaying tactics, threats, and attempts to confuse matters by spreading half-truths or lies, sometimes just because they have been misinformed.”
