SP PNG Hunters upset Wynnum Manly Seagulls 32 - 22
The SP Papua New Guinea Hunters came out firing in the second half to cause the biggest upset this year in Intrust Super Cup. In the first half, the Seagulls were unstoppable and were first to score in the 5th minute. Hunters fought back and leveled the score 6 all . It was all Seagulls with their height and weight advantages, terrorized Hunters defence and scored two unanswered tries to take the lead 16 – 6 at half time.
In the second half, Hunters scored a try through Thomson Teteh to close the gap to 16 – 10. However this was short lived as Seagulls scored their last try of the day to extend the lead to 22 - 10 in the 60th minute. PNG Hunters were to score twice to level the score and worked hard and got a well deserved try after a penalty was awarded to them. Conversion was successful and Hunters trailed 22 – 16 in the last quarter of the game.
In the 70th minute Hunters found a hole in Manly defence and scored again to level the score at 22 all. In the last ten minutes Hunters displayed a best comeback individual skills to snatch a try in the 73th minute. Hunters fullback made a chief kick in the fifth and last option to send left winger to regather and dive under the posts to sealed the game 32 - 22.
