New acting Police Commisioner arrested
Acting Police Commissioner Geoffrey Vaki has been arrested and now being held at the Boroko Police Station.
The dramas of the warrant of arrest of the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill took a different twist at 3pm day when Mr Vaki tried to take office. The grounds on why Mr Vaki was arrested has yet to be disclosed.
And while Mr Vaki was taken to Boroko cells , Prime Minister convened an National Executive Council met to sack Police Chief of Operations Deputy Commissioner Simon Kauba as of 4pm today.
Mr Vaki despite being out of the Police Force since 2009 was recalled by NEC as acting police commissioner. NEC retired Sir Toami Kulunga. Sir Toami and Mr Vaki had a long legal battle.
