PNG Defence Force to rebuild Kirakira village

The PNG Defence Force will assist in rebuilding the 10 houses destroyed in the Kirakira village last weekend by a group of soldiers from Charlie Company in Taurama Barracks.

This is the assurance made by the Defence Force Commander, Brigadier General Gilbert Toropo in a press conference held yesterday at the Army Headquarters in Port Moresby.

Toropo also apologizes to the villagers of KiraKira in the Nation’s capital and assures them that those soldiers responsible for the destruction will be dealt with once investigations into the matter completes.

Meanwhile, the Army Commander says the death of the soldier caused by villagers is being investigated by police. The death of the soldier sparked the retaliation resulting in soldiers burning down the houses in the village. PNG Toda/ PNG Village
