PNGRFL AND PNGNRL JOIN HANDS

The PNGRFL & PNGNRL have been working on the ongoing issue about the movement of players between the Intrust Super Cup and the Digicel Cup.
In good news for the code the PNGNRL Board has decided to allow players from competitions such as the Intrust Super Cup and other overseas competitions to play in the Digicel Cup for the remaining games of the 2014 season - effective immediately.
The SP PNG Hunters will advise the Digicel Cup franchises of the list of SP PNG Hunters players available each week. The Hunters will only suggest players who have been playing and abiding by the Clubs Code of Conduct. Players who are under suspension or stood down for any breeches in the clubs code of conduct will not be available to play in the Digicel Cup. The Digicel Cup Franchises as owners of the teams will have the discretion to pick the players suggested by the Hunters if they wish so for their teams to play in the Digicel Cup each weekend.
The SP PNG Hunters if wishing to elevate Digicel Cup players to the Hunters squad will follow the same procedure by first approaching the Individual Digicel Cup Franchises about the player/s concerned.
While the current arrangement is for the 2014 Season of the Digicel Cup, both organisations are working on a detailed agreement for the upcoming 2015 season to address ALL issues relating to the game.
The key issues which will be addressed as part of the agreement will not only revolve around player movement but also include support from the PNGRFL towards ongoing training of referees, Improved Venues and cost sharing with the Digicel Cup.
To increase cooperation between the two organisations the PNGRFL and the PNGNRL will extend each other an invitation for representation on each organisations respective board.
A positive move forward for the game in PNG.
